Here's a question I've been dying to ask though, because apparently it's just a Welsh thing and i got terribly strange looks when i did it in Manchester.

But do you English folk thank the bus driver when you get off?

There are many cases of pronunciations being different because of the local dialects - such as saying 'buzz' for bus and 'skelington' instead of skeleton

Yeah I always say a variation of thanks when I get on and show them my ticket (or pay for it) and soon as I get off as well.

Strange the Manc folk gave you dirty looks tho, thought we all did it round it.
