What is a ginger man josy, someone selling ginger?

I love steptoe and son, it's one of my fave comedies
Yeah forgot about the 'Provident man' Kiz, he was my old man's best pal.

No coal man around our streets because it was a mining village and we all got free coal.

As for Steptoe - I do a mean impression of both;

"Here, Harold, I know I'm gettin old, but I ain't gorn yet... Not as knackered as Herculese.... I want a bird Harold".

"You dirty old man... You're bleeding filthy you are." -- Magic series - a classic.

By the way, I love your honesty.

I live somewhere similar myself Josy and generations of my family were 'down the pit'.

It's hard to reconcile how these old 'pit' villages used to look with how they are now.

Same here, think there used to be a fresh fish van and on Friday evenings a fish and chip van would come round but I am too young to remember such things
