Someone upsets somebody else most times in BB. They don't all walk and if they did there would be no programme.

Perez coughing was intentionally annoying and silly - but it was at 6:30 in the morning? Not all night?

Alex may be elderly but he isn't at retirement age - he's a working man, and our world is full of people his age and considerably older that are up and and about working - they don't have to be treated as if they are all feeble and in need of care homes.

Yes, Perez annoyed Alex. Perez goaded Alex. Alex couldn't deal with it in a controlled fashion so did the wisest thing and left. Somebody else could well have dealt with a great deal better. Alex is the one to take responsibility for his response.
You are very correct in what you say. The only thing that really stands out to me is this: Michelle Visage is a champion of gay rights, and she took the "homophobe's" side. I did not know who she was until this series (and I live in the US and I'm a straight male), but that speaks volumes for me. It makes me wonder what really went on.... I do not think she is just a shill for Katie H as this happened pretty early in the series. Alex acted wrong, Ken acted wrong, the baywatch guy may have acted wrong (no visual evidence).... but the common denominator is Perez. He pushes buttons better than anyone, which is exactly how he became famous in the US in the first place. His act is old here and I imagine abroad as well....

Sure Perez goaded Alex which it seems likely resulted in Alex leaving, but Ken and Jeremy, come off it. Unless it was Perez in disguise in the bathroom with Cloe, or Perez somehow forced Ken to use the "n" word twice.

Ken using the N word was completely not ok in the slightest, but I could understand it from about a 70+ year old... I could also definitely see why Alex reacted the way he did when Ken said it to him. You do not say that and Alex told him it would "get his ass beat" where he was from. Understandably, as a white male growing up not far from where Alex did, it makes perfect sense. But if anyone sent ken into a rage it was Perez, not Alex or anyone else. "irrelevant American" was spot on by Ken I may not recall correctly, but I believe Perez was very near the Chloe situation before the accusation part. He loves to be the center of attention, but you are correct the situation did not have much to do with Perez. The common theme was that Perez didn't feel "safe" with Jeremy, Ken, or Alex... which is what the remaining housemates picked up on...

Perez told Big Brother that he felt unsafe in the house with Jeremy around.

Big Brother had no choice but to take him seriously.

I can't comment on Michelle and the "homophobe" comment, what she does and why, whether he is a homophobe or not didn't feature in how I saw the Alex's departure and the need for people to "blame". I'm not interested in the "side" taking, just the need to blame.

If Perez is so well known for pushing buttons and his act is old, then I guess Alex had a good idea of what he might be letting himself in for but he still couldn't actually cope.

If there was a challenge to not let someone push your buttons to the point that you get physically aggressive - then I guess Alex wouldn't have met that one. I probably couldn't live with Perez either, but as Katie H says, man up accept that the challenge was bigger than you could cope with. Take responsibility.

Perez is well known by people under 30 in the US. Alex wouldn't have a clue who he was especially since Alex's star had faded long, long ago. But you are correct, Alex couldn't hack it which is why he left. I honestly believe he would have hit Perez after a couple more days. He couldn't take the taunting or disrespect even if it was just a game. He didn't get it, but Perez sure did.

And Katie H is right

Alexander didn't get Perez, the reason he left.

It's a generation gap Alexander couldn't reach over. Its possible he felt he couldn't stay in the house a minute longer.
