Russians trying to intimidate?

As I have a husband in the RAF and I'm ex-RAF myself I have some insight into this.

They aren't jets they're Bear Turboprops very old but still useful aircraft.

This probing has always gone on but lately has been increased to once or twice a month. They're doing nothing wrong except flying without transponders on and also no lights. The worry is that we'll have a collision.

They probe us, we intercept, they make a note of how long our reaction time is etc. it's all a game, they have recently sent a warship down the channel doing the same thing.

The only difference is it used to be over the North sea and Scotland now they're getting more ambitious.

They're doing it to other NATO members not just us, it's all got worse since the Ukraine trouble started.

The Russians yesterday also had another sortie down the coast of Ireland escorted by tankers which also had us scrambling the QRA aircraft.
