However, it's his house, if I lived opposite I would shut the blinds 24/7.

Each to their own, they are just lights after all and maybe the family should do what Kizzy suggested and put even more up The garden's is very well kept. I think some are not happy unless they have something to complain about, probably just looking down their noses at the family. There are more serious things to worry about going on in the world than lights on a house.

Call me cynical but how do we know he didn't do that himself or get someone to write it? The kids 'screaming' as they drive by seems ridiculously far fetched and the language looks to me like an awful attempt at coming across as a snob.

I love Christmas and leave my lights as long as possible. They brighten up the gloomy weather in January/February. But I've never left them til March. Still so long as he's footing his own electricity bill and not the taxpayer, then good luck to him.
