it said it caused her malnutrition low levels of nutrients, like potassium etc... you can't get mal nutrition from one day chewing gum. it must have been over a long time to get her levels that low.
It sounded to me like she was chewing gum as part of an eating disorder. many anorexics and bulimics use chewing gum to curb their hunger and satisfy their oral fixations. and malnutrition is why many people with eating disorders die, especially from lack of potassium. (i'm a former bulimic)
