Chloe was essentially saying that she got the wrong impression of Aaron at first, that's all. It's a compliment because she's saying that, after getting to know him, she knows his personality is real. How Aaron interprets that as "rude" is beyond me.

I understand how she meant it, but I wouldn't personally take it as a compliment is somebody pretty much said 'I didn't like you when I first met you', no matter how much they like me now.
Everyone would be a bit miffed by this, and if you say you wouldn't be you are kidding yourself.
