No, last summer's ratings are pretty much the same as this years. There is no "rating crisis".

Fans of the show last year said two things...
1. It needs the live feed 2. It needs to stop relying so heavily on desperate twists What do we get this year? 1. No live feed 2. Even more twists A business would go bankrupt acting like that. And a political party would end up worse off than the Lib Dems |

theres defo no rating crisis, Friday got 350k higher than the first eviction of BB15 and that wasn't even an eviction, just a live show. Thursday did well, got a really high share. The only rating thats disappointing is launch, tonight should do well.

There will only be a ratings crisis if it gets fewer viewers than alternative C5 programs, that are created for less money.
Taking the Australian BB as a model, it did suffer something of a crisis, it was moved to something like 3 nights a week rather than 7, so there are plenty of options available before a show finally gets pulled. Last edited by bots; 17-05-2015 at 11:55 AM. |

TBH, Big Brother has been renewed till 2018, so in a way ratings don't matter.
It's not going to be axed anytime soon, and Civilian Big Brother will never get over 2.1m. If they produce an amazing series, they can hit the 2m/2.1m mark, like how BB14 almost did. But I can't see that happening. I think as long as the series averages at least 1.6m, then it's fine. If they start to average 1.3m, then we should be worried. BB gets Channel 5 high ratings, and CBB gets Channel 5 even more higher ratings, at over 3m. It's doing fine. Plus, many of the BB15 highlights rated less than a million in overnights, but once the officials came in, they increased to about 1.3m. The BB16 launch rated terribly though. Sallie's eviction rating higher than the BB16 launch is worrying. But there was hardly promo for this year. Last edited by Jason.; 17-05-2015 at 12:04 PM. |

Combined with the fact that TV ratings are generally low across the board at the moment, nobody's knows that BB's on and by the time they do, it'll be too late for them to care. Whoever thought people would tune in at 9.20 on a Saturday (in the middle of May of all months) really needs to think again.
I just hope the officials and overall shares give a better picture for those whining about how bad the ratings appear to be (see: the Daily Star) |

Besides, it was up against Casualty which generally gets 5.5m each week. I think overalls will make it increase.

People are comparing the first live show this year to last year yet this years was the third day not the seventh day so of course the ratings are going to be higher.
I hope the ratings don't go below 1.5 but I can't see them staying that high.

Every year people say the ratings are terrible and it will probably be the last ever civilian series, yet each year it makes a return. Until the current contract runs out (2018?) I really don't think there's anything to worry about.

They won't axe it before trying various different strategies to give it life again.I'd say the first signs they are actually worrying about the ratings would be some drastic changes to the format and even then i reckon axing would'nt be the next step.

The show's rating have been badly damaged by last year's farce, a lot of loyal fans were alienated by the whole thing, but a a good week or two could see it recover. No need to panic yet.

It will be a "ratings crisis" when Big Brother gets moved to the 11pm slot. Even Ben Frow said himself they will keep Big Brother for the foreseeable future, even if they have to move it to 11pm every night. I think they would only move it that late when Channel 5 believe the ratings are a cause for concern.
The ratings have been lower so far, although not so low that it's a cause for concern, at the moment there is no cause for concern. The only terrible rating so far has been last nights show. When it gets to below 1 million every night of the week is the time I think we should start worrying about the future of civilian Big Brother. |
