I'm very surprised how ineffectual the Iraqi's seem to be in dealing with ISIS. That town is 70 miles from Baghdad !!. With the supposed world support fighting ISIS and the USA there advising them, how is this even possible is the question I ask. There is something not right here.

I hope this isn't the case Arista, because if it is, then the USA is making a massive tactical mistake - one which could be catastrophic.

By now the WORLD KNOWS who IS are, that their ONE and ONLY GOAL is to ISLAMIFY the ENTIRE GLOBE by FORCE AND VIOLENCE, and to KEEP IT ISLAMIFIED by the same twin tactics, and that THEY WILL NEVER STOP.

If one country is 'sacrificed' - for whatever reason - that country's resources -- human and material -- fortifies these evil bastards finances, strength and resolve, and every other country will eventually FALL LIKE DOMINOES.

Every soldier who engages in war KNOWS that there is a risk that he will die fighting in that war, but he is WILLING to accept that risk whilst probably praying that such a risk never materialises. The DIFFERENCE is with these brain-washed, demented terrorists, is that THEY are not only WILLING to accept the RISK of dying 'in battle' BUT ACTUALLY WILLING IT TO HAPPEN.

No amount of, even the most courageous of soldiers, can match such lunacy - which is why we CANNOT WIN unless the West throws ALL IT HAS behind the IRAQI effort and wipe out these cockroaches ONCE -AND-FOR-ALL.

And I mean EVERYTHING it has.

Taking Baghdad would be such a PR win for IS too, this just doesn't make sense. I can't help but feel that Americas hands have been tied somehow on this, that Iraq actually wants to be part of the Islamic state, that's the only explanation that makes sense to me at the moment.

They never have been able to recover a credible defence force to replace the army that the US disbanded after the invasion, a lot of the most important battles they've lost to IS despite being much better armed and far outnumbering them

Maybe its just me, but being coarse, when your balls are on the line, you fight with everything you have. IS are nutters, and they are not getting any real opposition.

A report on Ch4HDNews
confirmed the Ramadi Police asked for help
but Baghdad said NO?

[Iraq braced for the battle of Baghdad
After slaughtering 500 people
in the city of Ramadi, Isis could use
its proximity to Baghdad to
wage 'all-out war' with the
Shi'ite fighters in the Iraqi capital]

Yes Kirk
it appears USA are not in agreement with Iraq
who are now asking Iranians to save them.

Countless billions spent on a war against Saddam Hussein in Iraq and the aftermath... only for it to (inevitably) fall into the hands of an even worse force. You couldn't make this **** up .

I like to think that this music just plays over and over throughout the entire region:

Terrible events, all stops should be pulled out to rid the world of this rotten menace of a 'disease',by whatever means necessary to achieve it too,in my view.

Unfortunately the Iraqi government is now going to rely on the Shia militias who have been guilty of some pretty brutal sectarian crimes as well. That will push many in the Sunni population even closer to IS and lo and behold you have an even more enflamed sectarian war with no end in sight.

There are no means that will achieve it. I have no doubt that ISIS will be stomped, eventually... but something worse will simply rise from the ashes in an endless cycle. A Pandora's Box has been opened.

I cannot really disagree with any of that.

That's not really the right attitude though is it. If we followed that logic, we may as well all sit back and wait for our own beheadings which would inevitably follow in a few years.

You fight each battle as it arrives. 70 miles from Baghdad is a reason to hit IS hard, much harder than they have ever been hit before. This is a bunch of poorly trained, trainer wearing thugs that could be wiped out for a generation with the right strategy. Now is the time to do it

It might not be the "right attitude" but it's the truth. Wiped out for a generation? What, like Al Qaeda? Tear the region to shreds- again - to stamp out one group and another one will rise within years, if not months, and will probably be worse than the last.

I'm not saying we have any alternative but to continue to try to keep the problem at bay but it's little more than endless sticking plasters covering an infected wound. It won't heal. It will never heal. I'm sorry if that depresses you but... hey... it's depressing.
You can't cure cancer with a hammer.
