That's so disgusting. Thank god Diane Abbott is speaking up about this, one of very few decent Labour MPs left

It's obvious showmanship because there's obviously no way they can actually pay. Surely it'll cost more to implement than will actually be gained (which will be zero).

They should round them up and take them to live in barracks in wales. make them work and feed them. They could build roads and repair paths.

You mean like the bedroom tax

But this idea is ****ing ridiculous. I have never heard owt as daft actually. If a homeless person had a grand to pay a fine then I doubt they would be sleeping on the streets...

They could send in the bailiffs to repossess their belongings. I hear there's a roaring trade in piss stained blankets and fleas.

More likely though they just keep it on file, then hammer them with it if they ever dare to pull themselves out of the hole they're in. "Oh I see you used to be homeless and have turned it all around? Well... Actually you owe us £17,000 for all of the fines you've had over the last couple of years. What do you mean you still can't pay?? Back to the streets with you!"

This is literally worse than the bedroom tax. Labour really are making my choice in the next election easier and easier.

The Tories (unfortunately) aren't going anywhere for at least 10 years Josh, not unless they SERIOUSLY mess something up. Vote with your heart you must, padawan.

..and asking for fines that would be impossible to pay...maybe provide more facilities for the homeless would be better to solve it then and then the churchyards would be lovely for tourists...
