The UK government has lost no time in scrambling to nab the 2022 World Cup then. As corrupt as Blatter was, part of the reason that he maintained enough support is because away from the West people did not want to see all the power and money in football lie in the hands of Europe and - to an extent - America. It's about geopolitics as much as it is about corruption.
