Anyone preparing sandwiches need to wear gloves and to change those gloves when dealing with different cooked meats too.

No risks should be taken whatsoever in the case of food preparation,washing of hands is not enough, you couldn't be sure whether the hands were washed thoroughly or if it was a quick rinse under the tap.

Again I say,if I was buying a sandwich, it would have to be one I could see being made and if anyone prepared a sandwich for me not wearing clear gloves, then no way would I touch it.
Food hygiene is to important to take even the slightest of risks with.

You can't work in a kitchen wearing gloves though Joey. For mass production you might be right but for "food preparation" across the board it's just not feasible. For example, using plastic gloves while preparing raw chicken then taking them off to prep other foods actually carries a higher risk of cross contamination than simply washing your hands after handling the raw meat. Also the reduced manual dexterity and sensation in gloves increases the risk of cuts and burns during prep and cooking, which is obviously both a safety and a hygiene issue.

I've been in sandwich shops where the staff have prepared a chicken sandwich then removed the gloves,disposable gloves, and discarded them completely putting a new pair on to prepare something else.
If they are making numbers of chicken sandwiches then prepare all those and then move on to other sandwich ranges,changing and discarding gloves at every point.

That sandwich shop had boxes of those disposable gloves on the counter and the insistence is that gloves have to be used at all times.
People with cuts and burns really should not be preparing any food and certainly not with no gloves on.
I am extremely fussy as to my food preparation and I expect the highest of standards from anyone or any company in their preparation of food, especially as to cold sandwiches.

Hot sandwiches,as to the meat content should have been cooked enough to kill off bacteria,then again I would expect tongs,ladles and spoons to be used ,even in preparing them for someone else.

This is M&S,ASDA,Waitrose etc in this report,big companies, they should be doing a lot better in my view anyway.
Proper hygiene, proper protection and the right people preparing the sandwiches too.
No excuses for me for anything less.

Fine for sandwich shops / sandwich prep Joey but if you feel that strongly about it, I'd recommend that you never go out for dinner again, to any restaurant or pub, because using gloves at all times to prepare cooked meals is simply not feasible nor is it optimally hygienic. It doesn't happen.

Which is another point. People (all animals, actually) need a good intake of germs and bacteria to build gut strength and the immune system so that if you DO happen to gobble down something nasty, like salmonella, your body can fight it off.

I would only have hot food in a restaurant anyway and as I said, that will have been cooked, or should have been, enough to kill off any bacteria.
I would never have a cold salad in a restaurant or even bits of any salad with anything I ate unless I saw it prepared and going on my plate in front of me.

I am just really fussy as to my food and what I eat,I had food poisoning as a child and never forgot it.
No way for me anyway, should anyone prepare cold foods/snacks with no disposable gloves on, it may take that bit longer and be an inconvenience but at least it will be safer for the person who has to eat what is prepared.

If there was ever a 'real' world war 3,(you have a possible obsession as to a WW3), I doubt eating would be that important,few would likely survive anyway.

Since I enjoy good health and make sure what I eat is correctly cooked.
That I know my food is prepared correctly and more to the point to the highest levels of hygiene,then I think how I am, is a really good way to be.

I just eat a lovely sainsbury egg and cress sandwich a minute ago. No probs about how it was prepared. I also had some apple juice and some sausage and tomato crisps. The dog gets the corners. We have the same car picnic every monday and so far we are not dead.

He is a real character our arista,he and I don't agree much but I think he is fantastic.

That's fair enough, no one sensible would have eaten anything out of my Uni house kitchen. It was foul. We had maggots three times .

I dropped a venison burger in the devils dogs bowl the other day but as it was going in the grill i did not mind

too many fannys worrying about germs they dont understand or exist
