I said a few posts up that Marc isn't homophobic, read the entire thread if you're gonna nitpick, saves me repeating myself.

The only gay person in a thread not being offended does not stop it from being offensive (If thats a joke? then hahaha, if not, then get a grip. Some words are offensive, individuals opinions will never matter.)

If you call your heterosexual mate a ****** because of banter, then you used a homophobic phrase to make a joke.
Excluding the fact that the joke in your example sounds like a put-down on all gay people, it would be homophobic regardless of whether or not this was your intent.
Your idea of homophobia is, to me, outdated, gross and inappropriate to say on a public forum. Some words are offensive, this is one of those words.

So you get to arbitrarily decide what words are homophobic and unacceptable.

I see gay people calling each other such words. Are they homophobic and unacceptable when gay people use them?

So look at the context within the tweets, and try several words to see which ones could replace the problematic one .

Try these, replace with neutral word like "late", positive word like "batman", or negative word, such as "fu ckatard"

Which one do you think fits intended meaning best? So clearly he used the word as an insult, and that's the context, the context is damning.

And I get it, he likes his friend, it's all banter, yadda yadda yadda, but if calling a some girl a manbeast is meant as insult, then all manbests are gonna be "hey, hang on a minute..."

Same goes for Danny's tweet, but in his case, it's unclear if his buddy is gay indeed. If he is gay, then Danny called him gay, which he is, no harm done. But if his friend is being called as an insult for not giving him a call, despite actually being straight, well then, if it's used as an insult, then Danny clearly thinks it's insulting to be gay.

Marc is guilty of Homophobia now then? Marc would be the first person to watch Danny & Christen get it on, and not care, also ask Christen in the morning how was it last night with Daddy Danny?

That would make sense if I was a fan of marc but I'm not.

I don't like either of them. But seeing that Danny is worse is obvious to all neutral observers.

no the dictionary and common opinion does.

The fact that you disagree is so ****ing gross.

Out of interest if we swapped out the homophobic slur for the N word, would you defend it if others called it a racist tweet?

Marc called himself a homosexual a few nights ago.
Would homophobic people use it about theirselves?

OP is clutching at straws, Marc would probably be least offended by sexual preferences. I think he has done striping in gay bars in Dublin also.

Well, I am one of the people who think Emily's ejection was disgraceful. So take what you want from that.

Let me ask you this:

If a black rapper releases a record with the N word in it. Why shouldn't I, as a white person, sing it?

Do you get to tell me what songs I can sing now?

Honestly, I think this is enough to get your ban.
Racism and homophobia is never okay, to use racist or homophobic slurs is never okay.

It is a disgrace that you disagree and you are willing to publicly share it on a forum.

I haven't said anything of the kind.

The fact you want to "get my ban" speaks volumes though.

I think Emily's ejection was a disgrace. As do many people.

I hate the way people queue up to take offence at the slightest thing.

I don't view Marc's tweet as homophobic. I don't view danny's that way either. If you think that I should be banned for that then quite frankly I think you are getting hysterical.

Just put me on ignore if you don't want to read my posts. If it makes it easier for you then I will ignore you.

Um. I asked you how you would have felt if Marc used the N word, and you defended both yours and Emilys right to use it freely.
This is simply disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself.

And while we are about it, are the words you deem homophobic still homophobic when gay people use them?

Emily sang a song. That is all she did.

If people can release songs with those words in then throwing someone out of a BB house at 3am for singing the song is utterly ludicrous.

Yes, they were very sensitive about it after the shilpa race row but I thought emily was treated abysmally.

I also believe is these racist and homophobic words are so terrible then black and gay people should not be saying them.

but he kinda failed to use either racial, or homophobic slur in his post so no grounds for ban I think. He also seems to be fond of both gays and other races, just thinks he can call them same as they call them selves.

One of my gay friends is very adamant that usage of homophobic slur is best thing ever - I'm from regressive country, lots of homophobes here, and they actually beat people up, full on assaults in public when they know the person is gay, every gay pride ended in blood except for last one, where they actually didn't update anyone there'd be a gay pride walk, on wendsday in 11 am when all the HP were at work ><

Anyway, my friend tells me when someone uses slur he knows to be careful in front of that person he'd rather be "slured" at, then be beaten up.

In normal countries that argument is pretty much removed, but there you have it, lots of it depends on lots of it. It's way more important for people to be acceptant of the fact that not everyone is like them, then to use pre-approved nouns in given circumstances. Like how you don't use slur but are very judgy of him for having different opinion to yours

As far as I'm concerned, I'm pretty sure that in 50 years time we'll have completely different set of forbidden words while these will be back in regular usage but it is a good idea to stay away from them for now. After all blacks have been first enslaved then discriminated against for way too long (someplaces even today), I don't think it's that much of a problem for whites to give them the right to discriminate by usage of that word (we can use it, but you can't) for a while. Just as long as we don't get to feel like equals again. One more time, whites killed, raped, enslaved, burned, tortured, and discriminated against black, and blacks are asking whites not to use one word. And same logic applies to gays, feminists, atheists, and whoever else is being discriminated against.

Come on. Anyone can do it.

I am concerned at why withano is so keen to get me banned.

It is all rather odd. Almost as if I am besting him in debates.

ask yourself the same question, I was more concerned at you defending Emily and then asking this question.. It seemed like you gave a horrid opinion with a question, please correct me now if I'm wrong.. What is your answer to this question

And while we are about it, are the words you deem homophobic still homophobic when gay people use them?
the dictionary and common opinion deem them as homophobic, the fact that you do not is a disgrace. It will always be a homophobic word, the person who uses it is not necessarily a homophobe, we've been through this, keep up.

If the questions are too difficult then please feel free to put me on ignore.
The ignore button is ridiculous, it does nothing! I can still see all of your posts if you quote me

If you can't then say the word and I will put you on my ignore list and I will actually stick to it and not read your posts.
please do

I don't know why you are getting so stressed over this and trying to get me banned.
I want you banned because reading through this thread, it seems like you take racist and homophobic slurs very lightly, not dissimilar to a racist or a homophobic person, not that I'm accusing you of any such thing of course. If you tell me now that you disagree with homophobic slurs and racist slurs in every single context, then I will ignore your contradiction and accept that you do not deserve a ban but in this thread, you have not come across as a person who disagrees with the use of words which are widely only used to cause offence to other peoples based on their genetics..
