Another lie. 1) vast swathes of the top scientists have been religious too...science and religion can and do co exist.

Their whole point was that making prejudiced, bigoted comments about religious people as "Jesus freaks" (and basically telling people what is and isn't real) makes somebody no better than the people they're judging for themselves holding allegedly bigoted viewpoints.

Gay people don't want to be generalised, judged and negatively stereotyped, why is it acceptable to do so for religious people?
