Default Anyone ever flown with Delta Airline?

I'm a very nervous flyer, I'm going on my very first trip abroad with friends and I was wondering if they were good with letting passengers on a little earlier, I don't want to be a bother but I'd like to board earlier so I don't panic or anything

Most airlines will only open the gate at the designated time but if you speak to the ground staff at the gate and explain your fears they will try to accommodate you if they can. I sympathise with you as I am a terrible flyer too....although I like to board as late as possible so don't spend up to an hour panicking in my seat

Yeah our booking agent said the same, I'm fine once I am on the plane but if I am on near the end I get really freaked out - I have no idea why I just like to be settled. I was fine until today and I'm feeling sick about going now

I fly all the time and i love it. Try to keep yourself busy on the plane. Maybe listen to some music or read a book ?

I've flown Delta quite a lot. They're no better and no worse than any other airline but I'm thinking there's no way they're letting you on first, AJ. I know it's easy for someone who isn't bothered by flying to say 'just try to relax', but really... try. You're in the hands of a captain who flies a plane for a living and he (or indeed, she) will take good care of you, as will the cabin crew. Maybe let the cabin crew know you're nervous... they'll keep an eye on you.

...awww, you'll be totally fine Amy....you really will..I do understand though, I'm not the best of flyers myself..but I'm here so it must be pretty good and safe....my OH always says that I never held his hand so tightly when I gave birth to the boys as I do when we fly..or when we take off ...

...I don't know if they'll board you early, but I would explain to them, how nervous you are or ask your friends to explain if you don't want to and just see what they say...and also, as Livia said..tell the flight attendants as well and even anyone sitting close to you if it's someone who isn't one of your friends and let them support you because I think they will, people will understand...and you have your Housewives episodes and also there will be more or less, back to back movies to concentrate on, so if you focus on those, it'll help a lot ...but the big thing is though...HAVE AN AMAZING TIME, AMY.....(I know you will and I know the flying bit will have been worth it..)...
