Only a fraction of the oil we import comes from the Middle East. I'd be astonished and disgusted if any was finding its way into the West.

That's conjecture and guesswork, Mock. I'd be shocked to see evidence of this oil coming into the West.

Oh I know that it's just guesswork, I'm just saying that if it's true then it wouldn't be just this country to blame but a lot of western countries.

If it's found any Western country had imported oil from Syria then there will be hell to pay. Both the EU and the USA have sanctions in place on the import and export of goods to and from Syria, particularly oil.

We have sanctions in place to stop the import and export of goods to and from Syria. Imagining that means nothing is not being a realist it's being a reactionary because you're not keen on the current government and you don't let the facts stand in the way of that. I have come to that conclusion from all your other posts. If you think I've attempted to assassinate your character then by all means, hit the report button.

Yes and anyone determined would have to be more creative and as in a game of chess move the pieces, it wouldn't take a mastermind and is entirely feasible.
I'm good thanks, I'll just reply in defence as always.

There is an EU sanction. It'd be expensive and fraught with difficulty to import oil, you can't bring it in in your suitcase.

its only relevant if Turkey has active sanctions against Syria though including oil. Also, not all of Turkey consider Isis the enemy, far from it.

I reckon some of it has gotten it's way into not only our country but to much of the western world. An investigation into that is really needed.

You cannot assume that, Josh. Sanctions are sanctions, they are taken extremely seriously. Why would you want to waste public money on an investigation on an import sector that is already really heavily managed and administered?

I know you cannot assume which is why I think it should be looked into. I also don't understand the whole sanctions thing when we still sell arms to those regions, surely that contradicts our purpose and we need to make sure we aren't doing the same thing with oil.

the reason its highly unlikely that the oil got into the uk is because the oil intake is controlled by a relatively few companies, all of which have their own verified sources. Its not a general commodity that can be taken and used without processing first. Plenty of other goods could find their way in if they beat the systems, but oil really would be a long stretch

There are also EU sanctions in place for arms and ammunition.
