I quite happily admit to smoking a spliff or two on occasion. I know a lot of intelligent, high-functioning professionals who also partake. As far as I know none of my friends have ever dallied with stronger drugs. I fail to see the sense of arresting people for having a small amount of dope on them for personal use, while the casualties and police cells fill up with drunks on a Saturday night. Legalise it, tax it, regulate it and spend the money helping people who have a real drug problem.

That's a good idea actually, make money and recycle it and try to help addicts of the harder stuff. Like Liam said, I'm quite sure the vast majority of Heroin addicts wish they weren't heroin addicts
