I did this twice a year for four years, I don't think I ever once had a malicious comment PMed to me and if I ever did I certainly didn't include it - no, the reason people opt out is because they view it as a popularity contest (rightly and wrongly, I think) and they've weighed up their ego against the potential for their ego to be hurt and decided they'd rather not put themselves out there and package it under the nice beige reason of "I'm opting out" no questions asked. It's stupid and it's that more than anything else that will kill this off. I really enjoyed running this. It was nice to see people be nice, really, it was nice to read about why everyone liked the people they had chosen to write about and it was nice to compile these montages and have at least two occasions a year where everyone would chill out and not be at each other's throats, particularly a few years ago when people were absolutely horrible to each other all the time.

I hope you choose to carry on with it Ben and I hope that people will reconsider this opting out nonsense, it's a bit of fun at the end of the day!!!

Well now you are not being very nice about the opt outs and you are second guessing opt out reasons
