I didn't like the beetle thing AT ALL, but then I hate it when they are crunching on live beetles and crickets too so I can't be hypocritical. It may be a part of the show but they don't HAVE to eat them and I'm sure it makes no difference to the insects whether it's for the show or not, they are still being chewed alive. Not to mention trampled alive in the trials.
I think too that people brought up in different cultures (isn't Lady C from Jamaica?) have different mind sets regarding insects and animals - eg, don't the Chinese eat dogs? I think most of us in the Western world respect all living creatures, though I have seen shops with that awful fly - fryer hanging up that sizzles when the fly touches it. Yuck. And we boil poor lobsters and crabs alive which I would never eat, and we kill 'garden pests' so we can have pretty flowers etc, so....
I didn't like it one bit, though. It doesn't put me off finding her entertaining though, just as Helen bullying Jale didn't put you off enjoying her....
