falsifying over 50 patients records, failing to check their bloods for over 24 hours (should have been every 2 hours) causing enormous pain and suffering Lets hope they weed out the many other corrupt nurses and sub standard members of staff in the nhs...thus saving lives and making patients lives better....also weeding them out will make the work of the majority of great nhs staff much easier...when you work with selfish lazy scum like this it puts pressure on the good workers and of course betrays the sick vulnerable patients and destroys the confidence and reputation of the NHS....new labour had a dreadful pattern of brushing nhs corruption under the carpet...so we ended up with the highest mrsa levels in the world (70 times higher than Sweden) and 1000s of people dying of neglect (over 1000 died of thirst in Stafford) the nhs staff are NOT all angels of mercy and it was evil of new labour to suggest it was just to suck up to the unions for votes get the truth out there always and everyone wins in the long run...lets hope more corrupt nhs go to jail |

Hi Truth, i was one of those patients. When i broke my ankle many years ago the day after surgery i had problems. My leg was so swollen that i had an open cast. 2 of 32 staples in my ankle had burst during the night and i lost enough blood to the point that i needed blood. I had double vision, told my surgeon something wasn't right and nothing was done. I physically lifted my leg from the open cast in a lot of pain to show the nurses that something was wrong.

The nhs must always have a strong anonymous complaints procedure and strong ombudsman which again was sub standard for years. nurses should not only be employed for their qualifications but their character. the word nurse means to care for people and try to make them better. thorough character studies should be made on these people before they are let loose on wards on innocent patients Last edited by the truth; 14-12-2015 at 08:35 PM. |

When my sister was pregnant with her third child and her waters broke, she headed to the hospital. Anyone who's had a baby knows how it is when your waters brake; there really is no mistaking it but she was told by medical staff that her waters hadn't broken and was sent home. Three days later she had a dry birth but she was told that her and her newborn son were fine and sent home the same day. She asked the paediatrician why her son was making a strange noise with his throat but was told that some babies make such noises and it was nothing to worry about.
Two days later her son died in her arms. They called it a cot death but the post mortem showed acute infection which had caused liver, kidney and lung damage. The coroner said it was very likely the cause of her waters breaking early and that his death could of been avoided if staff had taken proper precautions when my sister first reported her waters breaking. She was advised not to sue but was told, if she decided to go ahead, it would be a case that could take years and the likelihood is, they would just close ranks and nothing would come of it.

At least the staff involved were shamed at the inquest and perhaps them having to live with the mistakes they made are enough. I believe my sister was right not to sue because no amount of compensation would of helped an iota but the one thing she never got...and this is so wrong...is an apology.

I have no idea, there was a distinct shift from 93 when I had my first child I was kept in prior to the birth due to high BP and kept 4 days after too. In 97 it was horrible sent home twice, admitted as an emergency and discharged 4hrs after the birth :/
There was also an issue with my consultant, now struck off.

I agree wholeheartedly she should have at at the very least an apology. Awful, these things just should not happen. As you say she had been at the hospital. This thread should command respect for the issues that can be raised as to hospital and nursing negligence,I don't often agree with the opening poster but he makes very strong and valid points on this very serious issue in his opening post. |

I am just pleased for you that it ended better than the atrocious and unnecessary loss of a child for DemolitionReds Sister. Thanks to you and DemRed for sharing those 2 things with us too. |
