...awww, that's probably what I would have done as well and let him know that although it would be good to still be friends, just not friends who buy gifts for each other..?..it was a difficult one and I think that you could have just as easily kept them as well and done whatever with them because he may think...hmmm, well that didn't work so maybe I'll try something else..(if his intentions are to get back with you..)..so he may make another gesture now and it's all very awkward for you..he's quite the persistent young guy..../poor you though....
