In this P.C. world as it has increasingly become over the past 40 years, the mightiest, most powerful word in the English language is the word; 'some'.
It can render the most unpalatable remarks 'acceptable', and Letwin is a jerk-off for not capitalising on his expensive education and including the word. Oh what a word it is: White people are racist bastards. Some white people are racist bastards. Blacks have a bad moral attitude. Some blacks have a bad moral attitude. Had he included that unassuming, little mighty atom of a word - who could disagree with him? Personally, in the grand scheme of things, as idiotic as Letwin was and still is, and as offensive as his (many) remarks are, I feel this is an over-reaction; a storm in a 30 year old tea cup, and there are far worse incidents to worry about which are current.
