You and I don't agree much as to how we see the issue of recipients of benefits, however I am absolutely grinning ear to ear that I can say I totally agree with you on this one.

While 50k is a great deal of money but not a vast fortune, they should have just simply declared it.
With careful planning and being responsible with it, it could and should have served them for a fair number of years at least.

In fact with it, they could have even started some small home run business venture that could have ensured income for most of their lives.
