Default Why do bright young prospects want to join big clubs like Madrid, Man United or Chels

Why do teen wizkids go to the big clubs? Money? Lure of potentially being a superstar? The so called smaller clubs have great youth programmes as they actually need young players (although this is less the case now thanks to Sky money)

Martin Odegaard has stagnated at Madrid. He won't get regular first team football anytime soon, despite Zidaine knowing everything about him.

Now I have heard AC Milans teen goalkeeper is wanted at Man United, he won't oust DeGea unless DDG heads to Madrid. Luke Shaw played for Southampton at 15/16 as a defender when they were in the championship and gained promotion. Had he had come from the Man United academy he would still be there.

Chelsea arguably have the best EPL academy in terms of talent pool but under Mourinho the limes of Loftus Cheek and Kenedy might as well have been playing rugby. At least Huddink is giving them game time.

I can see it happening.
The only plus would be LVG getting sacked straight after

Obvious when Sir Alex left. You lost the general of being special. Arsenal should really look at Man U poor succession planning and start getting plans for a new manager

Glad you said this as I wanted to start a thread on this but worried a tidal !wave of Man U fans would shout me down.

Some players are getting savvy about what clubs they want to join. Why join Man U and just become just another Man U player? Spoilt fans negatively comparing you to Best/ Cantona/ Schmeichel/ Law/Becks/ Rio F/ Robson/ Ronaldo/ RVN etc. If Depay scored a miraculous 30 goals every season now he would still be inferior to Ronaldo. History is now a turn off.

I would rather go elsewhere and be a new hero. Get a top 4 finish and Vardy and Mahrez will go down as 2 of LCFCs best all time treats along with Lineker, Banks, Shilton*, and Muzzy Izzit. Win the title and they will be the greatest ever Leicester players. Legends. Money is no longer a huge deal as Sky money has evened things up among the top and second tier clubs.

* Just found out that in 1960s a teenage Peter Shilton was Gordan Banks back up at Leicester. Wow, 2 of the best England GKs.This fact blew my mind.

Players are just as in danger of seeing their careers stagnate if they remain with their clubs or turn down big opportunity moves. It might not work out but you've got to take that risk if you really want to make it and whether you do succeed or not will separate that next generation of world class stars from those youngsters who don't live up to their hype

So few of our players go abroad to play. I think it really hurts us.
We put a massive price-tag on a good English player & that turns a lot of European clubs off.

I would love to see English players abroad. Sadly the money and lazy language barrier means players stay here. Why play for France L1 Angers (promoted and no #2 after PSG) or Celta Viga who could be in Champions League next season when you will get paid 2x money to rot mid table at Stoke /West Brom / Southampton.

Again I'd go to one of those clubs or Villarreal and develop there and even get a realistic chance of Champions League football. Arsenal have double amount of players than Eibar. Wow.

Money is the big factor and players usually go to who pays them more

But the tier #2 clubs have money and they will have more Sky Mooney next season. When Atletico Madrid won LA Liga reached the CL final, their wage bill was less than QPR.

Bayern Munich will get less TV money than Middlesboro/ Hull or whoever is promoted. Wolfsburg who are in Champions League will still make less money than doomed Aston Villa.

Money of course and who can blame them?

If someone offered me ridiculous money to play a game that people play for a hobby then I wouldn't need to b e asked twice.

The best two players this country's produced in the past fifteen years are Rooney and Barkley, so I'd say Everton lead the way on that one.

Yes a youth team against a experienced team is a fair match Sterling just went for £50 million just saying

Spurs have got a fantastic youth set up and acquisitions programme. Kane, Delli Ali via MKD and the rest of the young starlets. Poch is one to watch.

That's because Man City's got money to burn, for £50m he should be the star player of that team (like Rooney and Barkley are for their teams) I don't think he even makes the best eleven at Manchester City.

Teams like Man City just buy players like Sterling and Bony to take them out of the market.
