Not here for a re-cast because this time they will be terrible.. The only good re-cast they did was Lauren Branning and Sam Mitchell(Danniella to Kim).

I don't think Kat and Alfie are leaving for good.

It's just that if they announced that, yes they are returning after the spin off then it takes away any drama from the spin off. If it's supposed to be like the Wicker Man / Broadchurch then they'll want us to wonder if they'll survive or not. Especially Alfie with his brain tumour.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kat returns alone tbh.
