Drama set within the fictional realms of Charles Dickens' critically acclaimed novels, bringing together some of his most iconic characters as their lives intertwine in 19th-century London.

Anyone been watching this? I just watched the first episode on the iPlayer and really liked it, gonna get the second one watched soon!

It's a nice way to get myself more familiar with other Dickens characters who I'm less aquainted with, of course I've heard of plenty but it's mainly those from Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol who I'm truly familiar with so this could be a nice little education experience as well as an entertaining watch.

It's a really neat idea for a series and the first episode definitely made me want to watch more. There's another two tonight so I'll get the second from last night watched beforehand.

And of course, I love the addition of a murder mystery plot. BBC One is really delivering my whodunit needs this festive season!

Having Marley murdered on Christmas Eve was a nice touch since in A Christmas Carol that's the night he died. And of course, him dying at the end of the very first episode is fitting for a character who was "dead to begin with".

Just got caught up on the second episode, it's really enjoyable imo!

The scheduling is a little erratic. The next two episodes are tonight, followed by one episode on the 1st of Jan, then another on the 6th and then the 7th. I'm not sure at the moment about beyond that. It doesn't really bother me though, as long as I keep updated on the airing days there's no issue.

First and second episodes watched. I bloody love it! I've always liked historical dramas but this is definitely up there alongside Peaky Blinders.

It's very cleverly written with the constant plot twists, and very neat as you said Lostie!

Episode 4 was probably the least engaging for me so far but as you said, some slower episodes are to be expected in a 20-part series. Not a bad episode by any means, however.

I loved the ending of Episode 3 with

Fagin threatening Sikes when he tried to intimidate him. I loved Ron Moody's Fagin in the musical but I'd read about the darker version of him from the original story and so I'm glad that seems to be the way they're heading here. If you can frighten Bill Sikes of all people, you must be someone not to be trifled with.

I'm now up to date! I'm honestly loving it so far. It's definitely proved me wrong; when I first heard of it I thought they couldn't possibly shove all the novels together and make it look plausible, but it's extremely clever how they've done it.

Episode 4 wasn't too bad, it was slow but I wasn't put off and I'm excited for the next episode. I love Nancy (even though her cheekbones freak me out!) and I love how they've perfectly portrayed themes like social class and exploitation in the Victorian era, it makes it all the more interesting.

Right now I have no idea who the killer is. I did suspect Bob and then Nancy but now I think it could be anyone.

Yeah, I don't have any solid theories about the identity of the killer yet, but I can't help but think Fagin might be pulling some strings somewhere along the line.

Fell behind like 8 episodes but I got caught up over the past few nights. Still really enjoying it!

I hope Compeyson gets exposed soon though, horrible bastard.

As for Marley's killer, over the last couple of episodes I started suspecting Mr Jaggers, mainly because after the young boy (reckon he's Oliver Twist?) told Bucket that he saw a tall man with tied up hair arguing with Marley, the very next scene was a shot of Mr Jaggers and the first thing I noticed was that the length of his hair could very well be tied up in a ponytail, and after that they started showing us him having an antagonistic relationship with Bucket (and there's that one time he had a suspicious look on his face when Bucket left the room).

If not the killer, I definitely think he's at least the man who argued with Marley.

Unless I've completely missed the point and the man arguing with Marley was just supposed to be Fagin, I reckoned that was a red herring.
