It's the only Celebrity Big Brother in the world IIRC and it would be inaccurate to say that just UK viewers watch the show, vote in polls etc. Plus a lot of international celebrities are cast every year and foreign celebs can often be at an immediate disadvantage with the voting public since they are less known.
And no this isn't a "bitter cos Tiff lost" thread, I've genuinely been thinking this for a few series now, especially since BBCanada allow international votes with their polling systems and that's one of the best BB franchises in the world!

I think the premium numbers associated with voting are only available in the country of origin. Also, if we get fix claims now, what would it be like if it was extended to allow international calls

Yes.
International voting was sorta allowed with the BB app as you were able to use the Google Play credits to vote from anywhere but they should juut make proper international mobile voting a thing

Yes, but allowing Ireland to vote would be a start!

Yes - if they brought back the app vote/put an option to vote online but made it free and open to international viewers then it would be great! As previously mentioned, if TV3 do renew their contract with Channel 5 then the Irish viewers should be given the option to vote as well.

If you insist on having an American winner... then yes; that would help.

I know I will be shouted out for this but I don't think it should be full international voting....I think it's terrible that Ireland can't vote, it's 2016 FFS....Ireland is closer to London then Scotland....of course they should be able to vote....
But I disagree with USA voting if we are to continue inviting US celebrities into the house...their country is so vast compared to our tiny little island that the fan base would always make any real competition futile....last night proved how largely fan base impacts on who takes the crown....if the US get involved then fair competition would no longer be equal amongst the house mates. |

They could have like a massive global edition with only 2 or 3 british housemates and the rest from around the world, then it would make sense to let the world vote. The only problem would be is that cbb would have to air on actual tv in at least some countries as c5 dont like people watching on youtube and try the shut the channels down as much as they can.
Or even turn cbb into a global franchise and have it in a different location in the world every year! (Perhaps where the last winner was from) |

Yes, since I bet 30% of the viewers who are not from the UK also watch the show

I think what makes BB unique in the UK is the British reserve and the British self deprecating sense of humour.....as well as the way we mean one thing but say another.....that is a very unique thing to our country....I've lived in Germany and there BB is all so much more direct and predictable than over here...and we all know what the States version is like....if BB became a global thing then it would lose the quirkiness ....plus there is already too much American Tele on our screens and we should celebrate British drama more than we do because it really is superb

But it is wholly unfare that an Irish guy like Jeremy can be a contestant yet his next door neighbours are not allowed to vote for him....people forget that Tiffany wasn't the only housemate who didn't have her home crowd supporting her

We've had international winners before on more than one occaision. Suggesting an international vote just because you think your favourite is hard done by is a bit silly. Shes just not as popular offline as she was online. This is probably because she let an aggressive side slip up, she was rude at times and she was hyper-sexual which is still frowned upon. Just because you and some of your internet mates saw this as sassy and fun doesnt mean that the casual voter, who, isnt suaded by groupthink mentality as much, would watch it similarly. A lot of people still like to see good guys win and unfortunately the closest thing we had to one of those this series was a guy who did next to nothing all series. An international vote on BBUK just would not make sense, unless it was eurovision style voting. And that would just be ridick.

No, no, no....Please no.
I hate to say it but I've seen how Americans vote....just watch American Idol. If you're worried about non-deserving housemates winning, you'll pretty much guarantee it with an American vote. Too many highly religious people and tween girls vote which skewers the result. It may look like the British Public don't always get it right but they are pretty amazing. There is no real discrimination of LBGT community. If Americans vote, no one from the LBGT community will ever have a chance of winning again. |

well......im a yank and I can confirm, the brits and the yanks pretty much vote alike, the young hunks, 'nice people', boring ones, skate to the finals for the most part, we'd have pretty much the same result, the brits do tend to kick out the attractive hot headed females early (sallie) but aside from that, nothing would change

Yes. A lot of people from other countries (especially the U.S.) watch the show and it's a shame they can't vote for their favourites
Plus it's more money for C5 which is all they care about |

I have no problem with it at all, I do not understand why anyone would, it's like when Australia joined Eurovision and people kicked up a fuss for no reason whatsover |

Well if we're gonna have themes like UK VS USA coming up in future series then I do feel that we need international voting going on, otherwise it's too one-sided in the UK's corner.
