That's a really interesting point you bring up. I think the diversity was too forced. Having said that, I also think the lack of diversity is also too forced in most Channel 5 seasons, and the opposite has happened. And having experienced that take place, I definitely prefer forced diversity over none of it. I remember one of the BB10 housemates telling me that once they told them their ethnicity, they were automatically skipped through the line and through to the next stage. I believe instead this happens now with the straight white model/z-lister types both male and female.
As you said, the best seasons are made when the best people are cast. And often enough, that ends up being a diverse cast. Through diverse casts, each person brings different values to the show bringing great discourse and entertaining television. It's just a shame Channel 5 don't seem to get that.
