My parents just managed to avoid getting flooded in the June flooding, and then it went quiet because it was the North.

But when stock broker belt gets hit, it is headline news

As for me, I am on the 7th floor of a tower block on a hill, so if the Tyne bursts its banks and floods us out we will really be in trouble

I also appreciate the UK government in times like these (sarcasm).

Our emergency water taps have now all been sent to Sudan... so now we're dehydrating. Thanks. Our Red Cross personnel are even in different countries. Again, thanks.

And more severely... even our Army are in a different country. We could be really doing with their help right now.

I'm sorry but the northern floods were all over the news for as long as the went on. I don't get this northern woe is me victim attitude.

To be fair, it's obvious Northern events get a lot less airtime than Southern events. Personally I don't care though, the airtime doesn't really help the situation so why would I care that it's not reported.

Nah with the floods I agree with you, they were largely reported. I was just referring to 'in general' cos you said we have a "woe is me victim" attitude.
