I don't think there's anything wrong with tips IF they are just what they're supposed to be - an extra gift for exceptional service.

I would not want us to go the route of the US... where tips make up the bulk of service staff's income and are "expected" at all times, and it's seen as rude / wrong not to tip, or like the person must have done something wrong.

But yeah... everyone should be paid properly by their employer. Tips should be about generosity and getting "something extra" - no one should have to survive on tips, but neither should tipping be completely "banned".
