People who are "hard line" on anything are unreasonable and extreme by default. This is neither anything new, nor any indication of anything larger than that.

Yes, they are, but only because you decided to prefix one and not the other. Radical liberals are "worse" (more extreme) than right wing conservatives. However... they are not worse than radical right wing conservatives. They are exactly the same.
