Was produced by James Gandolfini shortly before he died (and meant to star him in Turturro's role, Robert De Niro was also considered before scheduling conflicts)... written/directed by Steven Zaillian (Schindler's List, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Richard Price (The Wire, The Color of Money), and is based on the BBC's Criminal Justice series from 2008.

Watched the first episode of this last night, it's interesting

Just watched the first episode. I really enjoyed it, I love that it's slow-burning without being boring. Probably gonna watch another episode later tonight.

Really didn't expect him to be acquitted/the case to fail. Thought it was a bit too idealistic for me to expect / it'd be kinda poetic him returning to prison and everything being horrible and corrupt and unfair and what not.

OK so did anyone else get huge homoerotic undertones between Naz and Freddy? Obviously there was the unspoken BJs between their other two cronies that ended...uh...well... but idk. Omar from the Wire + prison companionship + a queer viewer = these thoughts.

Had huge problems with the believability of the final episode though. That Halle would not figure in the investigation at all, even though he was at the funeral and part of "a bit of a scene". Liked his character motivations and all that, though - a lot more of a satisfying culprit than "weird hearse man" or "random friend of the racist in the street". Did kinda expect it to turn out to be the stepfather, mind.

John Turturro was excellent. I hope he picks up awards nominations (if not the awards themselves) as well as Riz Ahmed, who I would assume the academies would lean towards. I guess I can see why some reviewers found fault with his character development: it was very "I've seen this before". That said, couldn't help but empathise with him and found him an interesting lead in the sense that you're kept thinking "...maybe he did have a psychotic episode..."

Loved Box, loved Weiss, loved Khan's family... Kapoor was rather silly but I liked her too...

Going to assume there won't be another series </3
