I think Jason feels he cant smile and laugh in case someone brands him insensitive, seeing as how Charlie is going through the mill in there. When she goes he will come out and have some fun, maybe even a little romance as I think Skippy has a bit of a thing for him. She hangs on his neck quite a lot and older men are well sought after by young virile women, trust me I know, I have the same problem with them all the time.

She really needs to go. I want to see him enjoy himself. He can't do that no because of Charlie and the cat ladies breathing down his neck
