Yes, Sam was the first into the water, but rather than brownie-point scoring by trying to use such a fact as a means of denigrating Jason's role, is this not more of a pointer to the fact that - like the garden task which Sam won - he is younger and has quicker reflexes than middle-aged Jason?

Where was Hughie? He is young, and was the first to notice Jayne's dilemma. He is also hyperfit - the way he always has the energy to explode in a fit at the drop of a pin, and the way he can operate his mouth 24/7.

Where was the Bob Marley-Dappy hybrid Jackson? He's young and got reflexes which are quick enough to keep dodging the bullets his sneaky antics keep causing.

Where were the young, hyper-fit girls, Evelyn and Laura? Their energy and reflexes are orgasmic.

Jason was MORE of a hero and gentleman than any of them, but WHATEVER kindness or courtesy he performs will never satisfy the Jase-haters on here because their dislike is driven by PERSONAL PREJUDICE and NOT actual fact or reason.
