It's naive to believe they simply chose to not fund one procedure in favour of another. Cataracts are way more common than Gender Dysphoria so if it came to it, it'd likely be gender reassignment ops that got cut back.

There's another reason for the cut but the media will focus on the Cataracts vs Transgender thing since it riles up the bigots and gives them something to demonise.

What I think is a huge issue these days is that people cannot have a discussion on anything like this without words like bigot being thrown out. Questioning, debate, conversation, disagreement do not make people bigots.
