If so instigate a returns process

If they did not ( and most do) just relist the item yourself and make sure that you give the buyer a negative (it sounds like he could have many already so another wont make a difference).

I would do that if it were something costing more than £5, but as I say I have given the cable to a friend so, it's OK.
