A hate crime which caused no(?) physical damage to property or people but there was a clear intent of emotional abuse and racial hatred. 8 months seems appropriate in this case to me.

Do you disagree with the penalty, I've not read through the thread yet. Do you think the penalty should be more or less severe?

Edit: just seen most people think this sentence is too long. They broke laws lol, lawbreakers go to jail, its kinda how it works.

I mean, thats not the point though is it? Comparing any crime to a lenient sentence.. or a harsh sentence. Its not like me posting a link to a guy who got ten years for illegally downloading music will change perceptions on this news story, because its not remotely relevant.

A hate crime was commited and 8 months seems reasonable, comparing it to lenient or harsh sentences from the past shouldnt change the context.

It would be nice if it applied to ALL lawbreakers though. The rabid muslim's who scream death and hatred on British streets seem to be pretty well immune to even a fine.

I just think its odd to compare this sentence to harsh or lenient sentences from the past.. Take each crime for its own and 8 months seems appropriate.
comparing it to a guy who got away with murder or comparing it to a guy who got ten years for illegally downloading music is illogical.
