Again though, it's a minority of gay men that will be irresponsible on prep, like I said it's unfair to punish everyone else for what some will do (and really that punishment extends to the whole of society since HIV is increasing, in London especially the rates are shocking and that puts everyone in danger, and I know you want to keep the conversation to gay men only but sexuality isn't as straight forward as that for a lot of people so straight men and women are also at an increased danger right now too - a gay man with HIV isn't necessarily only going to pass it on to another gay man). And people can act irresponsibly in all aspects of life but we don't limit treatments to the majority because of those people. And it really doesn't matter that some drinkers may forget to take the pill, again it's missing the point completely that for the people who don't forget to take it, and act responsibly, it will have huge benefits (as well as like I say, to society as a whole by reducing the amount of HIV that's out there).
I'm not going to pretend that it isn't a problem that some gay men are spreading STD's by 'advertising' unsafe sex, it is and it pisses me off to be quite honest when I see people on Grindr etc doing it, but it's something that's a completely separate issue, and it should be addressed, but not by limiting treatments for diseases for them (and especially when it's going to have an adverse impact on everyone else). Personally I think the best way to deal with that is through sex-education in schools being inclusive of gay sex & relationships but that's something for another thread
