No doubt producers will have to intervene to boost figures again. When it does come to that, surely it shows how they currently manage the show does not work? Intervention due to lower than expected ratings has happened a few times now.

I think a lot of it is because the Allstars look disappointing on paper. When people hear that their favourite Celebrity housemates are coming back the young viewers expect the likes of Katie Price/Katie Hopkins and older viewers expect some of the bigger names the show used to pull on Channel 4 (Jermaine Jackson/George Galloway). Nobody thought "Wow, an allstar series! I'd love to see Jasmine Waltz again!"

Leaking the lineup early + the lineup looking disappointing on paper = this.

I also hear that the Summer celebrity series wasn't seen as a good year, which can't help. Although I can't comment as I didn't watch it. #

I am glad this series seems a little more fun than previous ones though, after Brexit and Trump I think we need a break from conflict and misery.

This is probably true. Everybody I know in real life is disappointed that Perez, Hopkins, Steph, Tiffany, Bear etc. aren't the 'All Stars' and most complained they knew none of the All Stars at all.

If C5 got rid of the americans it would grow again. Nobody wants the imports, it dilutes our own home grown product and when they spend 1 million on a dip stick that sleeps then walks, wtf, it only pisses people off. They are their own worst enemies

Has anyone else noticed the correlation nowadays between the overnight launch figure & the official series average? CBB17 launched with 2.8 (i think?) overnight/averaged the same. BB17 launched with 1.6, averaged 1.6. Okay so CBB18 was a little off, but close enough. And with the kind of figures this series is getting, it could average 2.3 officially.

The last couple of years, CBB has been timeshifting around half a million. So if we keep getting 1.7m then it would be around 2.2m.

I remember the Friday interview later shows and Saturdays used to timeshift almost 1m last year!
