They arenīt recasting Leiaīs actor for the 9th btw. So either she dies in this or she has an off-screen death in the next one. (Well, daa.)

Luke will probably go in the 9th, so that all of the 3 old core hero actors are gone, if they decide to do new ones. They could have Luke turn to the dark side, like in the comics, but i donīt see that happening.

They've also said they won't use CGI to bring her back. I don't think she'll die in this because I'm pretty sure she was meant to be in Episode 9 too, so I'd guess something happens off screen.
