Administrators say 815 people are to lose their jobs after the owner of 34 Budgens-branded stores collapsed. The announcement was made just nine months after Food Retailer Group - part of restructuring specialists, Hilco - bought the stores from the Co-op. It had blamed poor trading for the failure. The problem is McColls and Nisa have their own brand food sold in both stores called Heritage matching or cheaper than Tesco. Some small Co-Op's have been sold to McColls changing overninght Co - Op Bank Ethical Failed - never worked so its pulling down the whole of the Co-Op Last edited by arista; 07-03-2017 at 05:28 PM. |

Its been around for a long time
but only in certain places And this is Bad news: Joint administrator, Mike Denny, said: "Unfortunately, we have been unable to find a buyer and it is not commercially viable to continue trading the stores." Last edited by arista; 07-03-2017 at 05:32 PM. |

Don't think I've ever heard of them, but sad that more job cuts are occurring.

'The 20th century's industrialization leaves the world overcrowded, polluted and suffering global warming due to "the greenhouse effect".[2] In 2022, with 40 million people in New York City, housing is dilapidated; homeless people fill the streets; many are unemployed, the few "lucky" ones with jobs are only barely scraping by, and food and working technology is scarce. Most of the population survives on rations produced by the Soylent Corporation, whose newest product is Soylent Green, a green wafer advertised to contain "high-energy plankton" from the World Ocean, more nutritious and palatable than its predecessors "Red" and "Yellow", but in short supply.'

We had our Co-op taken over by Budgens , it's been there a couple of months and it closes altogether tomorrow, they are even selling the fixtures and fittings, it was never busy as prices were so high , not surprised it failed , it had a 'Happy Shopper' section but that was cheap and tacky ,the rest of the goods you could get for the same price or less at Waitrose, we have only two supermarkets now which are Waitrose and Aldi.
