I used to love Carmel when she first came in but they've made her character so hard to sympathise and like. She's just a martyr and bad person I think. Her turning her back on her so-called BFF Denise when Denise needed her most during her adoption decision (I know she's made up for it since but she was a really bad friend to her at the start), her whole saga with Masood and the way she acts like it's everyone but her who's in the wrong has just made me see her in a really different light. I don't enjoy the Kazemi's at all tbqh, a pretty ****e bunch of characters besides Kush.

I think the problem is she was brought in to aid Kush's storyline.

Then she proved a hit so they brought her in as a regular.
However, for ages she was just a background character, then Shabnam quit, leaving Kush's storyline stuck, then the change in producers who largely decided to ignore Kush and then suddenly Camel one of the few female characters alongside Denise in the show and they're like "Sh*t we haven't developed her character much and we have all this screen time to fill." So she's become a character that has no defined personality or story, and simply is the one to react/comment/add to other stories such as Stacey/Arthur, the Shakil stuff, as Denise's friend, now the market inspector etc resulting in a very muddled characterisation where she has 45 personalities and lots of contradictions.

A bit of a ramble but it made sense in my head.
