You say that from the point of never having been banned, I'd imagine most people would throw in the towel at some point if they were banned every five minutes. What would be the point in remaining?

You'd only get banned every 5 minutes if you fail to abide by the rules each time you come back...

People don't get banned for nothing, surely you can see that regardless of how friendly you are with him...

Banning isn't the problem, its when it isn't consistent across the board that an issue arises, and I am not even that friendly with LT, I enjoyed his posts and he made me laugh, he will be a big miss as is Kirk and BOTs

Members get automatically banned when they reach a certain number of infraction points, breaking the first threshold will get you a day ban and then they get more severe as they go on. The amount of points you get per infraction depends on what you've done and whether or not you break the rules on a regular basis. Someone who is constantly breaking the rules will hit those ban thresholds in a short amount of time as opposed to someone who only rarely breaks the rules. There's some exceptions to that of course but they tend to be rare.

Your friends get banned more often because they maintain a high infraction score while other SD regulars aren't really that close to being banned because they don't break the rules as frequently. The system is consistent, you just didn't understand it.

Thank you for explaining all that so eloquently it still doesn't explain why you have never been banned though

Yeah and there's a great skill in taking it right to the brink and then backing off, then going back in again, and each time you get that little bit closer to a ban, and then you back off again, and it can be frustrating, but in that good way y'know? So on you go, back and forward, sometimes pushing it so close to the limit that you worry you've passed the point of no return so you have to grip that little bit harder, back off for that little bit longer, because you know that the pay off - when you finally do get banned - it'll be the most explosive ban yet.

I think they call it "edging" or something like that.

That doesn't apply on TiBB as there is no set amount of infractions that lead to a ban, so how would you know how close you were to a ban?

You just sort of feel it building Cherie, like a sort of muscle tension. Like you're going to get a cramp but at the same time, you have that excited feeling like butterflies in the stomach? It's hard to explain and it takes practice. I mean, God knows we've all pushed just that little bit past the point of no return before and had a weak, unsatisfying ban! It's disappointing at the time but it's all part of the learning process.
