We pay so much a month while he is at the rescue center,he has been a long time resident,so really not sure what would happen should he be rehomed,I would guess they would let us know and we could either adopt another one or stop paying,he may not even be suitable to rehome,it really is something I will find out Niamh,as I am curious now, lol, anyway he is at Roden kennels in Shropshire and his name is Caffrey,if anyone wants to see him.

It really is sad how these dogs get this bad reputation when it is all down to the conditions they live in and how they are treat.

Any dog can be psychologically messed with to be dangerous but because staffies "look the part" they get the most slack.

We are going to visit a little dog this Saturday that we are thinking of rehoming, I'm quite excited to meet him

Although I am quite scared at the same time because I know how attached we get to them and how heart breaking it is when they pass away, but I do know we can provide a loving home for one of the many animals that needs it and think we should go ahead and do it.

The only thing is, I'm terrible when I visit the rehoming centres, I would actually bring all of them home with me if it was possible.

Yeah, I'm the same.

I'm looking into volunteering with an animal sanctuary, but I just know I'll want them all.

Great to hear about you possibly rehoming one of the dogs, Josy!

It's not because they "look the part" though it's because they are capable of doing more damage then other dogs. That doesn't mean that all or even most of them are aggressive, it means if they do become aggressive they could kill a person

I had a large piece of leg bitten by a staffie, so I can speak personally as to the damage they can do. I had a hell of a job removing him from my leg. I should point out that this was our family pet. I fed him every day and took him for walks, but if they think their cosy little environment is under threat, they will protect it with vigour.

Aw Josy, you sound like me,I have a bit of a dilemma at the moment, one of our neighbours died and his dog is with his alchoholic friend, the dog looks quite old and sad and I want to cuddle it everytime I see it and offer it a home but like you said its heartbreaking when they go,but this poor old dog just looks so sad,it is a Springer spaniel,I really want to offer it a home,it probably wouldn't be for long, and I have to consider how my other dog would get on with it,the guy who has it now was walking it in the pouring rain the other day,can in hand and one in pocket, all I though was poor dog.Let us know if you get a dog Josy.

Having a pet is such a privilege, it should be much more difficult to become a dog owner and more difficult still to be a breeder. I can honestly say I have never met a Staffie who was anything other than loving and gentle.

I'm wondering Kazanne, if you got a dog young enough, so that even if the poor thing had had a bad owner, the dog would still react well to a loving home and owner? Mind you I know what you mean when you have children and another dog to take into consideration. Hope you find one.

Hi Jenny, I did rescue a dog in the end but it was a dog who lived in the town with a couple of drunkards who were abusive to him and walked around in all weathers with him,we managed to get them to let us have him with some help from the local vets,he was a Springer spaniel about 12/13years old ,his name was Prince sadly we had to have him put to sleep last October due to several health problems he had bad arthritis ,some lumps here and there, and he was just a rired old boy.but we adored him even though we had him for just over a year we spoilt him rotten and I still miss him today. This is him after we had him a few months.
