I believe Assad is evil but no worse than all those potential leaders ready to step into his boots.

I continually read journalism from Iran, Russia, Saudi, the West and in particular Syria. All of them carry bias.

Everything and everyone carries bias. People form their own opinions based on a combination of their own experience, what they read and their own opinion, partly based on what they prefer to believe - no one is above reproach on this.

I agree. People are capable of sorting the wheat from the chaff, it isn't just a select few. People make their own decisions about what's true and what's not. The UK's Department for International Development has spent over £1bn on aid for Syria and is one of the largest, if not the largest, provider of aid to Jordan which has massive refugee camps. That's not been in the news... it's all about the arms and the fighting. But I know about it. And it's true!

ISIS - Insane Small Ignorant Scum

Unfortunately the world is full of power-mad little men all trying to be big fish in their own small ponds. ISIS are deluded enough and stupid enough to believe they can take on the whole world, getting their tentacles into every country on earth it seems. They are the most deluded of all in all their ignorance.

I really wouldn't put anything past those idiots. There are none so blind as those that will not progress and are too scared to abandon their backward ideology for fear of becoming powerless and invisible. The West will always be one step ahead of such insecure, backward thinking fools.

There are at least ten well known armies and militia groups fighting in Syria.
The Syrian army backed by Russia and Iran and has the support of the Shiites and Christians in Syria who view Assad’s army as their only real protectorate.
Turkey, who’s motives aren’t very transparent
Iran/ Hezbollah who are aligned with Assad
The Free Syrian Army who are anti-Assad and were supported by America until they started handing their weapons over to ISIS
The YPG who want a Kurdish state and who have reliably allied themselves with America and continue to fight against ISIS
ISIS (formally al-Qaeda in Iraq) Who commits acts of genocide against Shiites, Christians, and Yezidis.
The Nursa Front, better known as al-Qaeda who are now accepting mass desertions from ISIS and like ISIS, are fighting against Shiites and Christians which includes the Syrian Army.
The Christian Militias who fight against jihadist groups including ISIS. They are supported by Russia and Assad but have had no U.S support so far.
And America who was sending weapons to The Free Syrian Army and is still working with the YPG against ISIS but more recently has concentrated its efforts on toppling Assad.
Assad is the only Arab group protecting Christians and yet surprise, surprise, he’s gassing children, just like Hussain did. Remember though none of this has ever been verified.
Edited to add Russia!

This all started about ten years ago when Assad screwed up the contract that was set to build a gas pipline from Qatar, through Syria down to the Med where it would supply Europe. Instead of strengthening the US and European economy, Assads broken contract was about to strengthen Russia. The same thing happened to the Ukraine when it refused to sign up to the EU.
Russia needs to control the Syrian pipeline and the West need to control the Syrian pipeline but what both the Russians and the West overlooked was how many forces are at play in Syria.

For those who rule over us, its all about oil, for us, the western civilians, its about having to live beside the fallout and for Syrian civilians its about having to live with all this extremism over lineage and interpretation of the Koran.
The West started this fight and now the West is blaming all the guys who turned up after.

I don't believe for a moment that the western pigs at the top are concerned about chemical weapons. This is all about occupation to control the flow of gas and has nothing to do with brokering peace or any other crap like that.

That whole post was wiped out by one ridiculous, provocative phrase.

No it wasn't, it's getting more and more frequent this stomping around the forum judging which information , links, sources or standpoints are 'ridiculous'.

We are pigs with our noses in the trough of the world, we always have been and we always will be... If that makes me unpatriotic I don't give a toss! There is precious little about Britain to feel proud of anymore and what there is this govt is hell bent on stamping out!

who are you to call it ridiculous?

It's a public forum - we all have a right to call something ridiculous, you do it often enough.

Besides she is right.

Why because she referred to Brits as pigs, that then negates a common sense informative factual post?

What's the best either of you two have added of any merit to any discussion of late?
Your combined best effort is to label anything not a direct quote from a tabloid newspaper as ridiculous or 'PC'

In your limited biased opinion. In my opinion your efforts are predictably anti-establishment, full of conspiracy theories and anti the West, with most of your sources provided by left-wing rags. Real balanced sources there. The merit of your opinions are debatable.

As you seem to hate Britain, America and the West so much maybe you could emigrate to the Middle East, but I don't think that as a mere woman, your strong opinions, or any opinions come to that, will be appreciated.

Typical retort...if you don't like it foff!

very blinkered and narrow minded view of history and present misguided actions that are killing people at home and abroad.

Well, you are... And I'm very disappointed.

Indeed your views are very blinkered and narrow-minded and those being killed are largely the victims of religous zealots and terrorists. All grown-ups are accountable for their actions wherever they come from. But let's just blame the West for all the world's ills - what a nice, easy, convenient little belief system that is.

Those who cannot understand how to put their insults on ice should not enter into the heat of debate.

Fredrick somebody or other

I wouldn't mind being judged for my words, if those judging me could understand something of the topic. Continually using satire or not sticking to the debate topic is nearly always an attempt to throw that topic off track.

Is there anyone here who blames the West for all the worlds ills?

As for Iraq and Syria, we invaded them. We started this but sometimes it feels like you're not aware of this.

Laughing aside; it makes bringing them over here a lot more complex than just looking out for ISIS insurgents. The FSA and NURSA Front are both revolutionary armies. ISIS are just better at spreading propaganda, especially when it comes to the West. If NF or FSA were to claim a terrorist attack over here, the government, for the sake of public knowledge, would tell us it was ISIS and ISIS would be happy with stealing that brownie point.

We do need to give the innocents a choice of escape, but what we can't do is release people who are under suspicion until we make a decision to send them back or not. I believe that's what happened with the Swedish attacker.

You were judged for your words. You called a whole section of humanity "pigs".

To my mind, that loses you the right to talk down to others and say who should or shouldn't enter a debate.

Assad has had no conscience about killing his own people for 6 years, so it is easy enough to believe he would use chemical weapons on them.

It doesn't lose anyone anything, if it was any other section other than the collective that you have chosen to defend there would be no issue.

That aside I wouldn't sat DR had talked down to anyone, or suggested who should or shouldn't enter the debate...
I get it you don't like the western pigs analogy, but seriously if you think that negates anything else you're deluded.

I'ts an analogy that demonstrates a particular mindset and very hostile bias against the West. It spoke volumes. Seriously, if you think it doesn't negate anything you're the deluded one.
