Default One of the saddest stories I've heard in a while

https://www.google.com/amp/wreg.com/...sippi-boy/amp/

I don't know if it's because I work with kids again, or if because it's just plain awful, but omg, I cried so much reading this.

I don't understand how a 17 year old boy could just shoot a 7 year old kid in the face... I seriously just feel sick thinking about it.

I had an amber alert on my phone for this, and this is the first time I've had one where it's ended badly literally feel sick to my stomach

Truly, truly horrendous!

The average deaths from shooting per year in the US is over 33,000 with another 88,000 surviving gun-shot injuries!

What will it take to convince the powers that be that something drastic needs to be done about gun availability in the US.

Deaths associated with terrorism in the US are absolutely miniscule in comparison yet the money and time spent (as well as the freedoms and privacy sacrificed) supposedly 'combatting' it are vast.

The stupidity is hard to comprehend.

What an awful story, where was the need to shoot him and what was wrong with the mother that she didn't report him as missing straight off

That jumped out at me as well, why on earth did she report the car missing and fail to mention that her son was in the back seat?? Their response would have been much more urgent... they'll be getting dozens of stolen car reports and it'll just go on the list. A missing child is much higher priority. I guess maybe she panicked about people thinking she was neglectful? It still doesn't make much sense.

The story sounds like the mother was involved in a set up, could be wrong but killing the boy makes no sense.

that did cross my mind as well, as awful as its sounds, or maybe she was just unlucky, who leaves their car running when they go into a shop though with a child in the back..
