Like a politician, the wannabe contestants will have to state their case to the viewers, after already auditioning for show producers in order to have the chance of reality TV stardom.

They are each allotted an earnest piece-to-camera segment and have a limited amount of time to plug their best characteristics promising viewers what they can bring to the show – whether it’s romance, laughter or drama.

A telly insider revealed: “Big Brother bosses are really running with the election fever of the country this year and mocking up housemates as political party leaders. Like a real-life politician the hopeful housemates will have to convince the public to vote for them with a convincing speech.

“It will all be filmed live so they will be under pressure not to fluff up their speeches. It will be an exciting twist to the opening night shenanigans.”

Hmm this has potential but it could also ruin the series before it's begun

I like it but what worries me is that many of the greats didn't show their potential until they'd been in the house for a length of time. We're going to end up with loads of 'I'm a ruthless cow/I'm going to be the villain' Tamara and Nick types.
