She's definitely self absorbed, and even though she presented it as a joke, she chose to steal the attention from Deborah and make the moment all about her. It didn't come across as funny to me, but as Chanelle intent on stealing the limelight. She went down in my estimation after this.

It's a bit of an unfair tag to just label at Chanelle tbf.

I'd say of the current Housemates that Tom, Isabelle, Charlotte, Elleh, Kieran, and Hannah all suffer from the same traits that you've listed for Chanelle.

And I can get Chanelle's appeal, a bit too vulgar for my tastes, but I can certainly see why alot of people are supporting her as she's contributed alot to the series with her vulgarity, humour, and arguments/bitchy behaviour throughout her stint.

Unfortunately, some would have us believe that never happened and was just a figment of our imagination. Chanelle is allowed to joke and act like the diva, but if anybody does it they're taken seriously.
