If they're going to give other's money, don't deduct it from the actual winner's prize. It's something that really annoys me, because the winners don't always get the same amount so it makes the prize aspect at the end less of a big deal.

That would defeat the point, taking it from the prize fund irks those that think they are going to win, if the prize fund remained intact it wouldn't have the same effect
