The only reason anyone needs 4K is if they have a massive screen (65"+) that they sit less than 10 feet away from, or for screens that people typically sit much closer to (e.g. a desktop monitor). Though even for the latter, whilst there is a huge difference between 1080p and 1440p, there's very little noticeable difference between 4k and 1440p on monitors up to 27"... and I have no idea why anyone would have a desktop monitor bigger than 27"...
